If you are using an HTML Web Object to add the code fragment to the page, you can get rid of the surrounding <div>...</div> tags by ticking the 'ignore page position (raw HTML)' checkbox in the Attach HTML Code dialog.

To make the code appear immediately before the closing tag, you will also need to select the HTML Web Object on the WP page and use 'Bring to
Front'.

In WP10 (and later versions) there's another way of doing it which is particularly helpful if you want the code on multiple pages.

Press Alt+S to bring up the Source view and look for the lines <!--Page Body End--> and <!--Master Page Body End--> above the tag at the bottom of the page.

Click immediately after the '-->' in one of the lines (the first one if you only want the code to appear on the current page, or the second one if you want it on all pages sharing the same Master) and press the Return key on your keyboard, and then paste your Google Analytics code.
