How to set up Serif Web Resources NEWS Smart Object for another’s use.
By Paul N.
It was actually really easy. The problem is that once you have signed up to SWR there doesn't appear to be an option to create further accounts.
The solution -
In X2 go to "Tools" (top pull down menus) then "options" (right at the bottom of the pull down) then click on the button "Clear account details" under Web resources (middle right of the new options window).
This isn't deleting your signed up account its just clearing it as the default one when you use X2.
Then just click on the Smart object tool icon on your left hand tool bar and there will be a log in box with the option to create a new account.
Make sure that you have access to the email addrss that you submit (as I have control of my clients hosting I temporarily forwarded to my own email address) so you can validate the new account.
The extra information that it warns you it may need is just a full name!
You may find that you want X2 to remember the new account while you work on it as it was asking me to log in every time I tried to work with Smart Objects (and also kept telling me to wait for 4 minutes because I had input the wrong details when I hadn’t even attempted to do so! - just a little bug I'm guessing!).
When you want to go back to your own account just repeat the process above.
Then your client can access and edit the Smart Object on their own pc by going to the Serif Web Resources login page. I just put a small link to the page close to the Smart Object they may want to edit.
I think a lot of people will find this useful as it gives their clients some independent access to content on their sites.
Cheers
Paul
