WebPlus 101 - some basics.
I think what is needed is a very basic tutorial.
1. Make MasterPage as short as possible. For the footer, go to Arrange > Attach to Bottom of Page.
2. Pay early attention to File > Site Properties > Graphics and Options tabs.
3. Resize images to the required size before inserting into WP. Keep filesizes less than 35 kb.
4. Use either HTML or Creative frames for body text to avoid having text turned into an image and hence not searchable and slowing downloads.
5. Use only web-safe fonts for body text
6. Understand that a pdf is a file like any other and can be hyperlinked and uploaded along with the site.
7. Know the site requirements of your primary site visitors and design to please them and make the site user friendly to them.
8. Be aware of image filesizes that many on dialup may find take way too long to display. They leave your site instead of waiting. This include flash stuff too, especially galleries.
9. Have the email from the host available when setting up Publish Site to Web for the first time.
10. Run Tools > Site Manager > Site Checker regularly.
11. How to set up a sub-folder on the host for uploading a site while still in development.
.... for starters.
Other stuff for the brand new site designer can be added to this list. BUt, we gotta keep this really simple, friends.
So, what is your input, please..

12. Change your pages' HTML titles to include your site or company name as well as the page name

13. It's advisable to use a maximum page width of 750 px to ensure that visitors viewing at 800 x 600 don't have to deal with a horizontal scrollbar as well as a vertical one.
14. Before spending time creating various effects like matching scrollbars, page transitions, etc, bear in mind they only work in IE and therefore an estimated 30% of visitors will be unable to see them.
15. When inserting hyperlinks to other sites, ensure that they open in a new window, so that the visitor doesn't leave your site, probably never to return!

16. Use left or justifed text for ease of reading. Use centered text only for points of emphasis or call-outs.
17. An image is worth a few words for the benefit of the visually impaired as well as search engines.
Select an image object > right click > Image Export Options > Alt and Title tab > fill in appropriate descriptions.
