How to Make Manuals Lie Flat - have them Rebound.
as contributed by Charlie
Problem
Serif Manuals are full of information, and the Resource Guides even more so.
Especially
with the resource guides where step by step instructions are given, it can be difficult
to follow along when the book won't easily stay open on the desk.
And, it seems you always need one hand on the mouse and two more on the keyboard. So you never have enough hands.
I've tried weighting the book open with staplers, paperweights, special book clips,
and all that. The clips work but then to turn the page, you need both hands.
Solution
I
went to my local office supply mega store... Staples, Office Depot, or what have
you.
I asked them to cut off the perfect binding on the manuals, and drill and install
spiral binding.
It works beautifully, the book lays flat on the desk I can reach
up with one hand to turn the page to continue the tutorial; look stuff up in the
index, whatever.
For the two WP X2 manuals (user guide and resource) plus the 2 manuals
I have for Movie Plus, I spent $12 US. I had the 2 Movie Plus books bound as one
(because they were thinner) And the WPX2 bound separately.
Serif software is such
a bargain. I would gladly pay them more for their manuals bound so, but even having
to take them to the store to get them fixed won't break the bank.
